It should appeal to the little ones, but there's not much here for the over-sixes.December 01, 2014
"The Hero of Color City" was made for five-year-olds and is unashamedly derivative of "Toy Story."October 03, 2014
A weak Toy Story-esque animated film for preschool kids made with little imagination, little art, and even less soul.October 03, 2014

Even if you allow for the the fact that the film is geared towards the 5-year-old set, it's still a pretty dreary experience, made even more so by screamingly vivid colors, uninspiring animation and grating songs.October 02, 2014
Cheerfully exhorting imagination, creativity and bravery in children while demonstrating none of those virtues itself, "The Hero of Color City" proves to be a dispiritingly colorless feature-length babysitter.October 03, 2014
It's a fun, fantastical tale for the toddler set but may not translate to older children who are too tied up with heady video games. For adults, it may take you back to a time when crayons were king.December 03, 2014

There's also a character who's a borderline libelous ripoff of 'The Simpsons'' Jerry Lewis-y Professor Frink.October 03, 2014
The story and characterizations never get much deeper than "We're all special in our own way." At times, the five writers borrow a little too heavily from other properties.October 05, 2014
Bland, though well-meaning, animated fable.
